The Mini 5 Pro is a camera upgrade, not a mandatory generation change
DJI moves from the Mini 4 Pro's 1/1.3-inch 48-megapixel camera to a 1-inch 50-megapixel camera on the Mini 5 Pro, raises slow motion from 4K/100 to 4K/120, adds 42 GB of internal storage, and expands gimbal roll travel to 225 degrees. Those changes increase low-light potential, reframing latitude, and shot design in a genuinely compact aircraft.
The Mini 4 Pro still records 4K/60 HDR, DNG stills, 10-bit D-Log M and HLG, native vertical video, and 4K/100 slow motion. These are manufacturer specifications, not a claim that we conducted a controlled image test. Owners whose Mini 4 Pro already meets the deliverable should not upgrade for the model number alone.

The weight label needs a scale
DJI specifies the Mini 5 Pro at approximately 249.9 grams with a possible variation of plus or minus 4 grams. That means a real standard-battery aircraft can weigh above 250 grams before filters, strobes, guards, or other accessories. The Mini 4 Pro standard configuration is specified below 249 grams; its Battery Plus moves it above the threshold.
In the United States, the sub-250-gram exception applies only to aircraft flown exclusively under the recreational exception. Every Part 107 aircraft must be registered regardless of weight. Mini 5 Pro owners should weigh the exact launch configuration instead of treating a product category as a legal measurement.

U.S. support is part of the price
Mini 5 Pro has official DJI regional specifications and storefronts, but it did not receive a normal direct DJI U.S. retail launch. Third-party U.S. inventory can differ by region, battery, controller, charger, warranty route, DJI Care eligibility, and return policy. Confirm every one of those items before ordering.
Mini 4 Pro has a normal U.S. product, support, firmware, and accessory path. The Mini 5 Pro is the more ambitious camera; the Mini 4 Pro is the lower-friction ownership system. For paid work, replacement speed and service predictability can matter more than one stop of camera ambition.
