Drone rules change, so “current” is a claim that needs receipts. This is the dated log of everything we ship, re-verify, and correct. How we verify in the first place is on the about page.
Thirteen state guides gain laws they had missed
Audits of state drone laws against each guide found statutes the guides did not cover. Each was read from the state's official code before it was added: Connecticut Public Act 25-1 (250 feet up and 100 feet out from critical infrastructure, a weaponized-drone ban, and an agency purchase ban on covered foreign drones from October 1, 2026); Florida's 2025 limits on flights over schools and agricultural land; Virginia's 2025 felony tiers for utilities, critical infrastructure, and defense facilities; Alabama's critical infrastructure statute; Texas Penal Code 42.15 for airports, military installations, and spaceports; Nebraska's Secure Drone Purchasing Act; Tennessee's Class E felony for recording within 250 feet of critical infrastructure; Missouri's mental health hospital rule; California's criminal peeping statute that names drones and its emergency-scene rule that reaches drone pilots; North Carolina's ban on sharing drone thermal images of building interiors; Iowa's felony for flying over jails and prisons; and Utah's correctional facility and weapons provisions.

Every claim on the federal law guides, the Part 107 study modules and training pages, and the gear explainers was re-checked against eCFR, faa.gov, the FAA testing matrix and study guide, NPS, FWS, and FCC records, and restamped where it held. The DJI ban guide now covers PS Docket 26-189 and the FCC marketplace rule effective October 13. The places-to-fly directory was refreshed from FAA, AMA, MultiGP, and CBO sources: 7,482 records and 146 drone or FPV profiles. Beginner drone price bands were re-checked at maker stores and major retailers.

Re-checked 157 country entries last reviewed in June against their aviation regulators: 130 confirmed and 15 corrected, including Macao's new weight-class regime, Botswana's residency-only registration, Guyana's 7 kg recreational exemption, and new altitude limits for Angola and Fiji. Re-checked 36 July-dated reviews and comparisons for availability, price, and sources, correcting the Mini 5 Pro price band and the Mini 4K Remote ID description. Rebuilt the District of Columbia guide around the FAA's Special Flight Rules Area and the National Mall's September 11, 2026 drone rule.

Added a searchable copy of every FAA-accepted Remote ID declaration, a tracker of DJI end-of-service dates and current firmware, and a troubleshooter for drones that refuse to take off, built on DJI's 2025 GEO changes. Launched an open-data hub with CSV and JSON downloads for state laws, 2026 enactments, international rules, battery watt-hours, and Remote ID declarations, and fixed a bug that served JSON from the state-law CSV link. Review pages now show battery watt-hours, Remote ID status, and firmware for each drone.

Added a tool listing the manufacturer watt-hours of 41 batteries across 34 drones against the FAA passenger bands. Added California AB 2113, signed September 20 and effective January 1, 2027, to the California guide, and published a tracker of every state drone law enacted or taking effect in 2026.

The FCC status checker now decodes an FCC ID, names the grantee where verified, and flags IDs named in the FCC's July 2026 restriction proposal. Arizona's new rules on ticketed events and school property were added to the Arizona guide.
Check a droneBEYOND Phase 2 and disaster-mapping reports added
Published a primary-source report on the FAA's BEYOND Phase 2 selection and a field-operations case study on DOE's 6,000-acre typhoon mapping mission. Updated the Part 108 status guide to separate the new testing program from current flight authority and the proposed BVLOS rule. Both reports use source imagery, identify what the public record does not prove, and connect readers to the relevant law and operating guides.

Published source-led reports on Virginia's controlled AED-drone pilot and DroneDeploy's July photogrammetry release, with FAL-generated editorial photography, explicit evidence limits, operational workflows, and crosslinks into the public-safety, mapping, software, and job-pricing guides. Added a dedicated Drone Brief signup to the newsroom and report pages, diversified the homepage story mix across beats, and limited mobile comment alerts so current reporting reaches the first viewport faster.

Published primary-source guides for special-use airspace and TFRs, privacy and private property, and public-land launch rules. The new path distinguishes FAA airspace authority from land-manager permission and state privacy law, compares NPS, Forest Service, BLM, refuge, wilderness, state, and tribal land, and replaces the rescinded 2014 National Park policy memorandum with the current NPS Reference Manual 60 and park-compendium framework.

Re-verified Jamaica, Colombia, Chile, South Korea, India, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt against current aviation authorities, operating portals, regulations, airspace tools, and customs sources. The international library now has 28 indexable, source-audited guides. All 204 destinations remain searchable, but unfinished records are visibly labeled research notes and remain noindex until their operational claims pass review. Corrected material omissions in Croatia, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, and Peru without promoting them prematurely.

Made the official FAA and PSI scheduling handoff visible when a learner passes the simulator, promoted the full timed simulator as the final action after the fifth study module, and changed the post-certificate navigation to first-flight planning instead of sending qualified pilots back into study.

Completed claim-level primary-source mapping for Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Each guide now traces its summary, key rules, field checks, managed-land guidance, and wildlife guidance to named sources. Replaced a retired Michigan statute link with the current official chapter PDF. The state library now has 30 fully mapped, indexable guides; incomplete states remain transparent noindex research notes.

Replaced placeholder summaries for Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, and Utah with primary-source field guides. The new pages separate state law from park and launch-property rules, identify current wildlife restrictions, distinguish pending proposals from enacted law, and turn the source material into concrete preflight checks. Later index-integrity work made complete claim-to-source mapping a requirement for every indexed state page.

Expanded the original practice bank to 282 questions and mapped it to all 176 public FAA-S-ACS-10B knowledge elements, with explicit notes where valid chart-reading skills have no exact element code. Rechecked all 21 FAA, eCFR, and PSI sources; added Figures 21 through 26 to the bank; corrected the current PSI topic weighting; regenerated affected podcast audio; and made study routes, flashcards, quizzes, and progress survive refresh on the current device without requiring an account.

Added state-locked drone club and FPV discovery routes for 28 states with at least 15 community leads and two FPV chapters. Each route separates FPV chapters from broader AMA and meeting-site leads and links back to the underlying source. The current index gate is intentionally higher: only 12 states with at least 60 leads, three FPV chapters, and strong map coverage are indexable; the broader records remain searchable in the national explorer.

Published a primary-source breakdown of the FCC's proposed import and marketing restrictions for specified equipment tied to nine company groups, including SkyRover, Specta, Xtra, and XAG. Updated the DJI status guide to separate new-equipment authorization restrictions from the agency's proceeding on previously authorized equipment, while making clear that the proposal is not final and does not ground current owners.
