HOVERAir publishes a 42 km/h maximum auto-follow speed, 4K/60 capture, a two-axis gimbal, 16-minute maximum flight time, Level 5 wind resistance, and action-oriented terrain following for X1 Pro. Its product logic is simple: launch from a palm, become the subject, and let the aircraft execute the camera move.
DJI publishes a 12 m/s tracking ceiling, roughly 43 km/h, for Neo 2, plus 4K/60, a two-axis gimbal, 19-minute maximum, omnidirectional vision with forward LiDAR, gesture control, and return-to-palm. Add the optional digital transceiver and Neo 2 can use compatible O4 controllers and goggles. These are manufacturer limits, not a claim that either aircraft held every subject in a field test.

Safety hardware and environment favor different missions
Neo 2 has the broader sensing architecture, which is meaningful for a small aircraft that can track from multiple directions. That system still depends on light, texture, mode, direction, and obstacle size. Thin branches, wires, leaves, snow glare, water, and fast closing speeds remain hard problems.
X1 Pro combines full propeller enclosure with rear active collision detection and emphasizes open action-sports routes. HOVERAir also offers a Thermo battery for subfreezing use, which is relevant to ski and winter-sport capture. Neither product turns autonomous follow into permission to stop supervising the aircraft or to fly into people and traffic.

Availability and complete-system price break the tie
HOVERAir sells X1 Pro through its U.S. storefront with clearly defined Beacon, battery, case, and charging bundles. Neo 2 has official DJI regional pages but not a normal direct U.S. retail launch, so a U.S. buyer should verify seller region, returns, warranty, DJI Care eligibility, transceiver, controller, charger, and support before comparing prices.
Both aircraft are below 250 grams in the configurations discussed and can qualify for the U.S. registration exception only when flown exclusively for recreation. Every Part 107 aircraft must be registered. The best choice is the one whose complete control and battery kit matches the footage, not the cheaper bare-aircraft listing.
