MicaSense Altum-PT Pro adds 640 x 512 thermal imaging for drone mapping
EagleNXT has opened U.S. orders for the multispectral payload. Its product page still calls them preorders, with no public price or confirmed delivery date.

The sensor
Higher-resolution thermal imaging joins the mapping payload
EagleNXT introduced the MicaSense Altum-PT Pro at Commercial UAV Expo on September 3. The new drone payload uses a FLIR Boson 640R thermal sensor. EagleNXT says it keeps the Altum-PT's multispectral and panchromatic imaging features.
The thermal sensor records 640 by 512 pixels. EagleNXT lists thermal ground sampling distance at 8.75 cm per pixel from 60 m above the surface. Its much finer 1.2 cm figure applies to results from the panchromatic and multispectral imagery with suitable processing, not to the thermal image. Buyers comparing cameras should keep those two measurements separate.
The payload captures the different image types together. A crop-monitoring crew could compare heat patterns with spectral maps from the same flight. The kit includes a DLS2 light sensor and CRP2 calibration panel. These are the maker's claims. Drone Authority has not flown or tested this sensor.
Before ordering
Check the complete aircraft and software package
This is an integration purchase, not a ready-to-fly drone. EagleNXT lists Ethernet, MAVLink serial, PWM triggering, and HTTP interfaces. Before ordering, ask the integrator to confirm the exact aircraft, mounting hardware, power supply, trigger support, and processing software included in the quote. A brand logo on a compatibility list does not identify the complete package a buyer will receive.
The September 3 release says U.S. customers can order now and international availability is planned for November. The product page describes the offer as a preorder. Neither page supplies a public price or a confirmed delivery date, so an order should not be treated as evidence that units are shipping.
