- Let intelligent batteries manage themselves at room temperature, keep them out of a hot vehicle, and recheck charge state before the next job.

DJI Mini 4K is the clearest low-cost entry into conventional aerial photography: the 246 g platform combines a real three-axis gimbal, 4K/30 video, DNG RAW photos, GPS flight, and DJI O2 control. What the 4K name actually buys
DJI uses the Mini 2-family airframe and lists a 1/2.3-inch 12-megapixel camera, three-axis mechanical gimbal, 4K recording up to 30 frames per second, 100 Mbps maximum bitrate, and JPEG plus DNG RAW stills. That is enough for stable daylight landscapes, establishing shots, real-estate practice, and learning deliberate camera moves.
The camera remains an entry system. There is no D-Log or 10-bit workflow, no 4K/60 mode, and no optical tele camera. The aircraft has downward positioning sensors but no forward, rear, or side obstacle-avoidance system, so route planning and visual separation stay with the pilot.
The legal and ownership lane
DJI publishes a 246 g takeoff weight. A stock aircraft used only recreationally can qualify for the U.S. registration exception, but every Part 107 aircraft must be registered. Modules, strobes, guards, mounts, and replacement parts can also change the ready-to-fly weight, so weigh the actual configuration instead of relying on the box.
DJI says Mini 4K supports Remote ID. For a registered operation, update the aircraft and app, confirm the accepted FAA declaration and exact serial/model identifier, add it to DroneZone, and verify that the broadcast is visible before launch.
