GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS: a 197 g cinema body, but no ready-made drone integration
The compact cinema camera weighs 197 g without a lens. GoPro has not announced an aerial mount, gimbal, or flight-control link for it.

Decision brief
The Mission 1 Pro ILS could suit a custom cinelifter or heavy-lift rig. It is not a drop-in payload for a consumer drone. Its flight weight must include the lens, support, mount, gimbal, power, and cables.

The camera
A small body carries a strong set of cinema recording tools.
GoPro opened preorders for the Mission 1 Pro ILS on August 26 at $699.99, with shipping and retail sales scheduled for September 2. We have not independently confirmed customer deliveries. The body weighs 197 g before a lens is attached.
The camera has a 50-megapixel 1-inch sensor. GoPro lists 8K video at 60 frames per second and 4K at 240 frames per second. It also records 10-bit GP-Log2, hybrid log-gamma video, timecode, and up to 240 Mbps. Open-gate modes reach 8K30 and 4K120. That is a useful set of tools for aerial crews that need a small cinema body.

GoPro says product support will continue under its proposed merger
GoPro announced a proposed merger with Starman Optical on September 1. It says it will continue supporting existing consumer products, subscriptions, and its cloud platform. The transaction has not closed. For a camera buyer, that statement is a commitment to support, not an announced drone mount or aircraft integration. The merger release does not resolve the aerial hardware questions above.

The mount
The Micro Four Thirds mount does not control the lens.
The Micro Four Thirds mount has no electronic contacts. Focus and aperture are manual, with no autofocus. GoPro says lenses need a manual or fixed aperture no greater than f/4.5. It announced a September 2 release date for the Mission Monitor app on iPhone and iPad, with a preview, focus tools, zebra overlays, color-look previews, and camera controls.
The aerial question
Body weight is only the start of the payload total.
A 197 g body is not a 197 g aerial payload. A working setup also needs a lens, lens support when required, a mount or cage, vibration isolation, power, and cables. Some shots will also need a gimbal. Digital Camera World reports that GoPro recommends support for lenses above 250 g instead of letting the mount carry their full weight.
GoPro has not announced an aerial gimbal, a flight-controller link, or remote lens control. HyperSmooth works with certain lenses and focal lengths. It cannot fix poor balance, vibration, or a weak mount. Consumer drones with built-in cameras cannot carry this body.
The best fit may be a custom cinelifter or heavy-lift cinema rig. Its crew would need to build the mount, weigh the full payload, test vibration and retention, and check thrust and flight time. Anyone seeking a ready-to-fly camera drone should wait for a tested aerial package.
