Skydio X10 and R10 joined the Blue UAS list. The exact configuration still matters.

The live federal list now shows the two aircraft as cleared, while Skydio says its Dock for X10 creates the first Blue UAS-cleared DFR solution.

Decision brief

Blue UAS clearance can simplify covered government procurement, but it is not an FAA flight approval or a blanket badge for every accessory and software configuration. Match the exact listed platform and current record before buying.

What changed

Two current Skydio aircraft now appear in the federal cleared data.

Skydio announced on July 23 that its X10, Dock for X10, and R10 solutions had been added to the U.S. federal government's Blue UAS Cleared List, joining the defense-focused X10D. The company's announcement frames the package as the first and only Blue UAS-cleared Drone as First Responder solution. That superlative is Skydio's claim, not an independent Drone Authority ranking.

The live federal record supports the core aircraft claim. The Blue UAS data endpoint lists Skydio X10 and Skydio R10 as non-provisional UAV entries added July 8, 2026. It does not expose Dock for X10 as a separate UAV row, so buyers should read the dock language as part of Skydio's cleared-solution announcement and verify the exact procurement configuration with the current list and contracting authority.

What the systems do

Outdoor response, remote staging, and indoor entry are different missions.

The X10 is an outdoor enterprise aircraft built around visual and thermal sensing, autonomy, and remote operations. R10 is an indoor and GPS-denied platform with guarded propellers, onboard lighting, two-way audio, and low-light autonomy. Dock for X10 turns the outdoor aircraft into a remotely staged system for public safety, security, and inspection workflows.

Blue UAS status is primarily a procurement and cybersecurity signal. The federal portal describes cleared platforms as compliant with current law and policy, cyber-validated, and available for Department of War purchase and operation. Other federal, state, local, grant, and private buyers may use the list differently, so the funding source and agency policy still control the purchase.

Procurement check

Four records before approving a system.

The useful question is not whether the brand says Blue UAS. It is whether the exact quoted system and intended operation both have a supported path.

  1. 01

    Open the live list

Find the exact platform and record its current status, date, manufacturer, and any provisional or Select designation.

  2. 02

    Match the quote

Identify the aircraft, controller, radio, payload, dock, software tier, and support term in the offered configuration.

  3. 03

    Confirm the funding rule

Apply the procurement restriction attached to the agency, grant, contract, state, or critical-infrastructure buyer.

  4. 04

    Build flight authority

Handle Part 107 or public-aircraft status, airspace, BVLOS, Remote ID, privacy, maintenance, and local launch access separately.

What it does not do

Procurement clearance does not replace FAA operating authority.

The designation does not authorize a flight. A public-safety or inspection program still needs the correct FAA operating authority, airspace access, Remote ID compliance, crew procedures, maintenance controls, launch-site permission, privacy policy, and any approval required for remote or beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations.

For a purchase decision, save the live list record and quote together. Match the platform, controller, radios, payloads, dock, software, and support term being offered; ask the seller to identify what part of the configuration is covered; and recheck the list before award. A logo on a sales page is not a substitute for the current government record.
