The Dominican Republic has a real online path. Small drones have lighter paperwork, but you still need to use the IDAC forms and respect controlled zones.
Bring it
IDAC operating approval is separate from Dominican Customs. Professional equipment brought temporarily may require declaration and security under the DGA temporary-admission regime.
Register it
IDAC's portal says drones at or above 0.55 lb / 0.25 kg must be registered, while RAD 107.25 more broadly says every UAS owner or operator must register under RAD 48. Sub-250 g visitors should confirm the current interpretation directly with IDAC.
Fly it
Submit Form 1500-9 for recreational operations. IDAC's portal says drones below 0.55 lb / approximately 250 g do not require a Dominican licence or insurance, but supporting identity and home-country rule evidence may still be required.
Map check
Operations outside Class G, at night, in prohibited or restricted areas, or in affected aerodrome airspace require prior IDAC authorization and, where applicable, ATC coordination.
Before you travel
- 01Submit the recreational or commercial IDAC form at least five business days before flying; IDAC estimates approximately 15 business days.
- 02Attach home-country registration/licence/insurance evidence where applicable.
- 03Include map, coordinates, dates, and site permissions in your plan.

- 122 m / 400 ft AGL, with structure-related exceptions under RAD 107.
- Recreational

- Commercial work
- Submit the commercial form with registration, pilot, insurance, map, coordinates, and operation evidence as applicable. IDAC currently says foreign commercial operators may operate only when hired by a Dominican company that makes the request.
