01RegulationsUnder Part 107, what is the maximum allowable altitude for a small unmanned aircraft flying in open airspace away from any structure?

Correct answer: 400 feet above ground level

Part 107 caps altitude at 400 feet AGL, unless the aircraft stays within 400 feet of a structure.

02RegulationsHow often must a Part 107 certificate holder complete recurrent training to remain current?

Correct answer: Every 24 calendar months

Currency is maintained by completing the free online recurrent training course every 24 calendar months.

03RegulationsA remote pilot discovers a flight created a serious injury requiring hospitalization. Within how many days must the FAA be notified?

Correct answer: Within 10 calendar days

Section 107.9 requires a report within 10 calendar days for serious injury, loss of consciousness, or damage to property other than the drone when repair cost or fair market value exceeds $500.

04Airspace & ChartsOn a VFR sectional chart, controlled airspace surrounding a major airport that resembles an upside-down wedding cake is which class?

Correct answer: Class B

Class B airspace surrounds the busiest airports and is depicted as concentric rings often described as an upside-down wedding cake.

05Operations & ADMA crewed aircraft reports final for runway 18. Where is it relative to the runway?

Correct answer: North of the runway, heading south

Runway 18 is aligned about 180 degrees. An aircraft on final for runway 18 is north of the runway and landing southbound.

06WeatherIn a METAR, the entry '24015G25KT' tells the pilot the wind is:

Correct answer: From 240° true at 15 knots gusting to 25 knots

In a METAR, wind is reported as direction (degrees true) and speed in knots; the 'G' shows gusts: here 240° at 15 knots gusting 25.

07Loading & PerformanceAdding a heavier payload to a small unmanned aircraft will most likely:

Correct answer: Reduce flight time and require more power to maintain altitude

Extra weight increases the power needed to stay aloft, reducing flight time, range, and maneuverability.

08RegulationsUnder standard Part 107 rules, the small unmanned aircraft must remain:

Correct answer: Within the visual line of sight of the remote pilot or visual observer

The aircraft must stay within visual line of sight of the remote PIC or a visual observer at all times.

09RegulationsA drone weighs 0.52 pounds with bare propellers that would lacerate skin. Adding guards removes that hazard but raises the total weight to 0.57 pounds. Which configuration qualifies for Category 1 operations over people?

Correct answer: Neither configuration, because the bare version fails the rotating-parts test and the guarded version exceeds 0.55 pounds

Category 1 requires both conditions at the same time: no more than 0.55 pounds including everything attached throughout the operation, and no exposed rotating parts that would lacerate skin.

10RegulationsA drone develops an active battery fire in flight. The only immediate route away from people requires a brief climb above 400 feet AGL to clear a crane before landing in an empty area. What may the remote PIC do under section 107.21?

Correct answer: Use only the deviation necessary to meet the emergency, end the flight safely, and send a written deviation report only if the FAA requests one

Section 107.21 applies to an in-flight emergency requiring immediate action and permits deviation only to the extent necessary. A written deviation report is required only upon FAA request.

How this Part 107 practice test works

The FAA testing matrix defines a 60-question, 120-minute UAG exam. FAA guidance says unscored validation questions may also be included without affecting the final score, so this simulator adds five validation-style prompts for practice. A passing result is 70% of the scored questions, or at least 42 correct answers. The simulator draws from 282 original questions and reshuffles each set.

The clock remains paused until you start. During a timed run you can open the FAA figure book, calculator, and scratch pad without leaving the testing surface. After submission, every question reveals the correct answer, a plain-English explanation, and the lesson that repairs that specific gap.

Current scored blueprint

What is covered on the Part 107 exam?

The FAA UAG knowledge test covers five scored domains. Regulations and Operations account for nearly three quarters of the scored blueprint, while Airspace and Charts supplies the visual interpretation questions that often consume the most time. Each domain below links directly to its free lesson and drill.

Knowledge areaScored targetShareWhat to know
Regulations29 of 6048%Part 107 limits, certification, waivers, Remote ID, and operations over people.
Airspace and Charts12 of 6020%Airspace classes, authorization, sectional symbols, airport data, and coordinates.
Weather3 of 605%METARs, TAFs, visibility, stability, density altitude, and weather hazards.
Loading and Performance1 of 602%Weight, balance, center of gravity, load factor, and aircraft performance.
Operations and ADM15 of 6025%Crew roles, airport operations, emergencies, night vision, maintenance, and judgment.

Use the result

What should you do with a practice score?

A single 70% pass is the legal threshold, not a comfortable readiness margin. Aim to score at least 80% on multiple shuffled runs and explain why each missed choice is wrong. That reduces the chance that one familiar question set is carrying the result.

If a domain is weak, switch to its focused lesson instead of immediately restarting the full exam. Use the sectional chart lab for visual misses, the flashcards for recall, and the AKTR decoder if you are preparing for a retake.

Part 107 practice test FAQ

What score do I need to pass the FAA Part 107 exam?

You must answer at least 70% of the 60 questions correctly, so you need 42 correct answers. The FAA says unscored validation questions may also appear without counting toward your result. This simulator includes five so they feel normal if you encounter them.

Are these the real FAA Part 107 test questions?

No. These are original questions written by Drone Authority to mirror the current FAA UAG testing blueprint and the decisions the exam requires. Active FAA questions are not public.

What topics are on the Part 107 exam?

The scored blueprint is Regulations 48%, Airspace and Charts 20%, Weather 5%, Loading and Performance 2%, and Operations including aeronautical decision-making 25%.

How much does the Part 107 exam cost?

The Unmanned Aircraft General knowledge test costs $175 and is taken at an approved PSI testing center. This Drone Authority practice test is free and does not require an account.
