Russia is not a normal travel-drone destination right now. Registration, airspace permission, regional security restrictions, and enforcement risk make casual tourist or creator flights a bad assumption.
The trip, step by step
- Bring it
- Do not bring a drone for use in Russia without confirming import, registration, and flight authorization through official Russian channels.
- Register it
- Rosaviatsiya maintains the official unmanned civil aircraft accounting/registration path; foreign visitors should verify eligibility before bringing a drone.
- Fly it
- Recreational visitor flights should be treated as unavailable unless Russian authorities confirm the exact aircraft, location, date, and airspace use in writing.
- Map check
- Use the State ATM Corporation / official airspace process and current regional restrictions. Many areas can be unavailable because of security or temporary limits.
Before you travel
- 01Written confirmation that the drone can be imported or temporarily brought into Russia.
- 02Rosaviatsiya aircraft/operator accounting or registration where required.
- 03Airspace-use approval for the exact location, date, time, and altitude.
- 04Separate media, site, border, park, or security permissions where applicable.

- Only as authorized. Do not rely on a generic altitude limit without current Russian airspace approval.

- Commercial or media work needs Russian-side authorization, airspace coordination, and any filming/security permissions before travel.
